?The SEC Academic Leadership Development Program is a valuable opportunity for faculty and administrators at Southeastern Conference universities to study a wide range of topics in higher education from the leader?s perspective,? said Torie Johnson, SECU executive director. ?We trust that the skills, techniques and knowledge they acquire this year will help prepare them for high level service?in academia.?

The SEC also provides an online platform to showcase achievements of these individuals on regional, national and international levels.

The SEC ALDP, established in 2008, fosters academic leadership among SEC faculty by allowing them the unique opportunity to address the challenges of academic administration at major research universities.

5 Questions: Vicki Rial

Vicki Rial

Vicki Rial is exhibition coordinator at Sarah Moody Gallery of Art.?

What do you love most about your job? ??My job gives me the chance to meet and work with many different artists from around the country as well as a variety of people at the University. I love the uniqueness of folks and how they make their place in the world.

Do you have a favorite style of art? ? I love any art that is easy to handle. We unpack, install and repack all the art that comes to us at the gallery, so it helps when everything is straightforward. Seriously, though, I have an appreciation for art ancient to contemporary.

How did you come to work at the University? ??I completed my master of fine arts degree at UA in 1996. The following year I was contacted by gallery director Bill Dooley about the job.

What?s the best piece of advice you have ever received? ??Remember that everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

How do you define success? ??Peace with God; peace with man.
