Name: Mariellen J. MacKay

Age: 65

Background/education: Masters of Science Human Services, Social and Community Services. Bachelors Degree Interdisciplinary Studies. Associates Degree Criminal Justice. Associates Degree Human Services.

Golden Key Honor Society Member.

Phi Beta Kappa.

I am a NH Trained Mediator.

Experience/Occupation: I am employed by The Moore Center in Manchester, NH. The Moore Center is one of the 10 Area Agencies throughout our state. I also do some outside service coordination work with families for Gateways Community Services which is the Area Agency here in Nashua, NH.

I am currently the Lead Legislative Liaison at The Moore Center and a Transition Coordinator.

I work with families to help them navigate the disability system and to help them transition their children into the adult world as they look forward to a future and gainful employment as any other adult would hope to do.

Prior elected office: I have never run for political office but I have been elected the Chair of the State Rehabilitation Council and the Chair of the NH Council on Developmental Disabilities. President of the Board of Directors for The Granite State Federation of Families for Children?s Mental Health. Former President of the NH Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.

Personal: Married to Vernon for 25 years. Two children.

Priorities for Nashua and NH: A quality education that is available for all, a strong economy that is fiscally responsible, superior community services, supporting all people with disabilities and their families and advocating for all of NH?s citizens to be treated with dignity, respect and full rights of citizenship. I support good jobs and to expand Rail for economic growth and public education.

Final question: Why are you running? My first priority is to work for the needs of all of the families of Nashua and New Hampshire. I am running to help bring the voice of the middle class to the legislature. I will bring the wishes and needs of the people up to Concord while leaving any personal agendas aside. Common sense NH values returned to our legislature. I will fight against increasing health care costs on Seniors, Women and Families. I am running for State Representative because I care about Nashua, and all of New Hampshire and its future.
